History of The Knight Brothers
The Knight Brother's started out in the path carved
for them by their father's country gospel group. It
too was "The Knight Brothers” An Appalachian harmony
trio that could melt your ear wax every time they
broke out in an accapela part. That’s where the boys
picked up their understanding of harmony and music
in general. With the oldest brother Chuck, who was
later killed in a work accident at 17, directing the
boys and leading the band, they traveled up and down
the East Coast singing and selling records and tapes
from the carpeted van they often used as a hotel.
They sold over 10,000 records without any airplay at
the time. They were on a roll when they abruptly
lost not only their band leader, but their oldest
brother.
After the devastation the boys shut down for a
while. In the end they found that the one thing that
made them feel alive and keep them strong as a
family was singing together, so they entered a
contest for country music. The won local, state, and
the regional competition and found themselves being
televised while competing on the stage of the Grand
Ole Opry where they would take second place in the
nation. This launched the boys in the direction of
song writing, performing and sharing the stage with
Country Music's biggest artists. The latest project
they have titled "Mile Markers". This particular
musical mile marker consists of 9 originals, 3 songs
from musical associates and a remake of the Doobie
Brother's hit, "Listen to the Music."
